You will find us on Ajami Square, on the walkway outside JouéClub. The Souks are paved, level and closed to cars, which makes this the gentlest place in the city to get the hang of a scooter — there is nothing to dodge and nowhere you have to share with traffic.
The trees over the walkways keep the worst of the afternoon sun off, so this is the spot that still works in the middle of a hot day when the open waterfront does not.
From here the rest of downtown opens up on foot-friendly paving, and the sea is a short ride away if you decide to keep going.

Nearby rides
Beirut Souks
Car-free, level and shaded. The place to ride if you are learning, riding with children, or out in the middle of a hot afternoon.
Downtown and Nejmeh Square
The old centre: Nejmeh Square, the clock tower, the colonnades and the stone streets between them. Best after six, when it empties out.
The waterfront promenade
Wide, flat and open to the sea for its whole length. The ride most people picture when they think about a scooter in Beirut, and the easiest one to do badly-dressed for exercise.
